The 2026 conventional storageing has officially begun.

The storage season has begun, and this morning we received the first load of Lady Claire.

Every year, the storage season is a time the entire TCK team looks forward to. It is a busy and exciting time, when collaboration between the supplier, the carrier, and our Agro department is everything. It is precisely this close coordination that enables us to deliver “just in time” and with the quality our customers expect year-round.

The storage potatoes need to last a long time, so we keep a close eye on the quality from the first to the last load. This puts high demands on both the suppliers’ work in the field and our handling.

We look forward to a great season in close collaboration with our suppliers and customers.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S has appointed Kim Madsen as the company’s new CEO, effective July 13th, 2026. Kim has been with the company since December 2025 and has worked in the potato industry for more than 25 years.

Kim Madsen has been with Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S since December 2025 and, during this time, has gained a deep understanding of the company’s operations, customers, growers, and business partners. With more than 25 years of experience in the potato industry, he also brings extensive industry insight and a strong network to support the company’s continued development and growth.

The change in leadership comes after former CEO Jacob Roland Pedersen was forced to step down due to illness.

This appointment ensures continuity in the company’s further development and a continuation of the strategic direction aimed at strengthening Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S both in Denmark and in international markets.

Chairman Arne Bisgård welcomes the appointment:

“In a short time, Kim has demonstrated a strong commitment and a deep understanding of our business. At the same time, he brings more than 25 years of experience in the potato industry, which provides a solid foundation for the company’s continued development. The board is convinced that he is the right person to lead Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S.”

Kim Madsen is looking forward to his new role:

“I am proud of the trust the board has placed in me. The potato industry has always been a part of my professional life, and I look forward to using my experience to further develop Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S. The company has a strong foundation, talented employees, and close relationships with growers, customers, and business partners, which we will build upon together.”

Over many years, Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S has built a strong position in the production and trade of potato chips, seed potatoes, and organic table potatoes and french fries. With Kim Madsen as CEO, the company continues to focus on quality, innovation, and close collaboration throughout the entire value chain.

Sincerely,
Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S

This summer has offered several exciting activities that have strengthened both our professional expertise and our collaboration with our international partners.

A group of our employees had the pleasure of visiting MSC Aarhus, where we were warmly welcomed by the local team. The visit included a tour aboard the MSC Elisa XIII, where we gained unique insight into the logistics and processes that support the export of certified seed potatoes around the world. It was an informative day that provided valuable insights into an important part of our value chain.

In addition, we welcomed visits from our partners Meijer, STET, and Norika. These individual visits provided valuable opportunities for professional discussions on potato varieties, market developments, and our ongoing collaboration in both the crisping and seed potato sectors. Maintaining this close dialogue with our partners is essential to strengthening our relationships, driving innovation, and continuing to create value for both growers and customers.

At the same time, activity has remained high both in the office and in our production facilities. The final German Lady Rosetta deliveries will soon be processed, marking the conclusion of the 2025/2026 season. As we close one season, we are already looking ahead to the opportunities and challenges of the 2026/2027 season and to continuing our close collaboration with suppliers, customers and partners.

Last Tuesday we had the pleasure of welcoming 26 students from Asmildkloster Agricultural School. A day we were particularly looking forward to, as it is always with great pleasure that we share insight into our company and not least, our work in the crisp potato industry.

The visit began with a presentation of the company, where our guests contributed with relevant and constructive questions. We then continued with a tour of the production and our storages, where the dialog naturally became more informal. Experience shows that this setting often creates even greater curiosity and engagement – something we greatly appreciate and encourage.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S expands the business with a new strategic leg within certified seed potatoes for export.

The expansion builds on our many years of experience in the production of quality potatoes and on existing facilities with high requirements for documentation, traceability and hygiene. Production has started and will be gradually expanded in the coming years.

As part of the strategy, we have strengthened the organization by expanding our Agro department with three strong profiles. In addition, we have partnered with experienced international partners in variety development and marketing.

By strengthening the cultivation of certified seed potatoes, we are building on our core business and our focus on stable deliveries and proven quality.

In December, Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S conducted a professional grower trip to the Netherlands together with our partners in seed potato production. The trip was part of our long-term growth strategy and focused on the development, quality and export of seed potatoes to both domestic and international markets.

The program included visits to a Dutch seed potato grower as well as STET and HZPC, where participants gained insight into the extensive breeding work behind future potato varieties. In addition, the entire value chain was highlighted through visits to a grading center, a quality assurance center and the export inspection of potatoes to third countries.

The grower tour provided valuable professional knowledge, strengthened relationships across partners and emphasized the importance of close collaboration in the development of a competitive and future-proof seed potato production.

At the beginning of May, TCK started the project to replace the roof of the 2009 warehouse. Thanks to the good weather and a strong effort from our craftsmen, the work was completed on schedule and with a result we are proud to showcase.

On Friday, September 5, the annual general meeting was held, where a new external board member Steen Bitsch was elected. Steen will replace Johan Winther Rasmussen. We thank Johan for his efforts and welcome Steen to Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S, where we look forward to working together.

During the AGM, our shareholders had the opportunity to see the results of the roof replacement up close, as an important milestone in the company’s history was held in the 2009 warehouse. The company’s founder and former CEO Erik Bech Thorsen had been invited to his farewell reception. He was honored by both former and current chairman of the board, as well as our business partner from Germany, who all highlighted his great contribution to Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S’ development. Erik concluded with a personal speech in which he expressed his hope that the company will continue to stand strong on the values that have always characterized us, including credibility as a central foundation.

With a solid foundation in both strong values and modern facilities, we look forward to continuing the development of Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S for the benefit of shareholders, employees and business partners.

Three times during the storage season, our trial varieties are taken out of storage for a color test and quality assessment.

These color samples help to assess how the new varieties perform as storage varieties in comparison with the most commonly used varieties in TCK. This work is crucial both for optimizations for our partners, suppliers and not least to ensure our customers the best future quality.

Our quality managers deep-fry them, after which they are laid out and rated according to a color chart from the European IBVL scale. It’s a very interesting process to see how the different varieties perform and after the data is entered, we lay them out from highest to lowest score and review the result.

These tests are very important for the work with new varieties and thus a look into Thorsens Chipskartofler’s future varieties. A new variety must therefore always go through a long series of tests and assessments and prove stable under Danish conditions over several generations before we invest in the variety.

The seed potato season is coming to an end and we can soon see the finish line.

It has been an exciting season where we have handled around 9,500 tons of seed potatoes, which is 1,500 tons more than in previous years.

The weather has been on our side and growers have been eager to receive their seed potatoes. Most are therefore already in the ground, with organic seed potatoes also in the ground, which is also quite early in the year. The last organic farmers actually expect to finish planting their potatoes before Easter.

The sorters have been working flat out and have done an excellent job.

We want to thank you for a great season and wish you a happy Easter.

Last week, we gathered over 40 suppliers who went with Jacob and our Agro department to Sweden on a two-day trip to visit our partner Estrella AB.

There was incredibly good support for this event, and it was a pleasure to see our growers sparring internally and sharing experiences, new and “old”.

We also held this year’s conventional grower meeting at the Estrella premises with various professional presentations.

We then had an educational tour of the production and ended with an exciting presentation from Estrella’s management.

We would like to say a big thank you to all participating growers and not least Estrella for their great hospitality and commitment during the visit.
